Jesus Canovas is Spain's leading light in the world of shoe making for the stars

Have you spotted some crystal heels on your favourite stars? Are you wondering where Victoria Beckham bought her bling heels? If you fancy a pair of stingray skin and Swarovski crystal-encrusted high heels, then look no further than Jesus Canovas, the highly talented Spanish shoe designer who has reached the stars. Each shoe is handmade in the traditional way and encrusted with a multitude of coloured crystals, making each pair unique.

Designer Shoes for Famous People

With famous names like Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham already owners of the 6,000 Euros-a-pair shoes, Canovas really has reached the top. Other famous stars of the screen seem to like his designs too, Julio Iglesias says that he buys eighty to a hundred pairs of Canovas shoes a year and King Juan Carlos of Spain, Michael Douglas and Hugh Grant are also fans.

The traditionally crafted designs that come in ostrich, seal, and iguana skin as well are the ultimate in luxury, glamour and Spanish elegance, and they come with a price tag to match.

The company, which was founded in Elche, Alicante back in 1983, has grown steadily; its presence is now in the UK, USA, Mexico, Germany, Portugal and the Dominion Republic, and this year it is breaking new ground in Dubai.

Jesus Canovas - Shoe Designer Beginnings

Jesus Canovas started making shoes in 1975 in the traditional way with hand-made stitching and then launched JC all-leather moccasins in 1983 with the company Quality Shoes SL. When Spanish singer Julio Iglesias started wearing JCs in many different styles and colours, the fame of Canovas rocketed practically overnight.

These day many other famous names wear this now famous label, among them the Prince of Monaco, Florentino Pérez, Ana Rosa Quintanaand Carmen Sevilla. The main characteristics of JC shoes are: classic and contemporary in style and the company motto is Un zapato que mime el pie which more or less means "a shoe that spoils or pampers the foot".

JC, shoe designer to the stars, will be a name we hear more of in the not-too-distant future. Glamour doesn’t die; it gets more daring, more glitzy and it certainly seems to get more pricey. Keep an eye out on the streets and see if you can spot a pair.
