Cult denimhead line Evisu launches yet more exclusive jean in collaboration with insider designer Adriano Goldschmied of GoldSign.

From near-religious fanaticism about so-called selvedge denim (made in Japan & extremely pricey) to never washing their jeans (!) - the diehard denimhead sprinkles on the Baking Soda and then stashes the jeans in the freezer until they are fresh again, thankyou – the world of cult denim is somewhat like spending time at the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

Denimhead fave, Japan’s Evisu, is celebrating their tenth anniversary stateside, and has teamed up with famed denim designer Adriano Goldschmied of GoldSign. They are coming out with an extremely limited edition run of 1000 pairs of jeans -half for men & half for women - priced at around $130 (wholesale). The men’s style is a straight-legged, rigid denim jean that contains gold kimono thread; women get a skinny jean treated with wax. Both will feature a special hybrid of the Evisu logo on the back pocket.

"[Goldschmied] has a deep understanding of the Evisu brand, having known it for so long, so he was easily able to understand the interesting historical tension between its subtle, demure attention to detail and its bold, almost arrogant side," Evisu's managing director, Peter Kaplow, told WWD. The two first worked together a decade ago to expand Evisu outside of Japan, where it enjoyed cult status, and launch it as a global brand. "It is the identity of Evisu with a sexy and feminine fit and fabric," says Goldschmied, explaining that the wash process occurred in Los Angeles at his facility, Laundry Atelier. "It is important for Evisu, because it started as a men's line, to bring a feminine point of view. The cut is a very important thing. The fit is coming from my concept, as a sexy jean that fits very well." (via WWD)
